- Fresher’s Week Events
We are very excited to announce what we’ll be doing during fresher’s week!
First off, we will have a stall at the Activities Fair this year! How we are moving up in the world! We will be at the Activities Fair on Tuesday September 9th. If you are a new prospective member looking to learn more about the society and what we do be sure to pay us a visit! If you are a returning member be sure to come say hi as well! A couple of us will be in armour!
Secondly, we will be running a knightly combat showcase on Friday the 12th from 13:00 to 14:00 in the Cabaret Bar at the Pleasance. We’ll be donning our full plate armours and going at it against each other with swords, daggers, and everything in between! This showcase will be open for all to attend, new or returning members! There will be some amount of snack based amenities provided as well, and the bar will be open for beverages.
Third but not least, we will be running two taster sessions this Fresher’s Week. One will be on Saturday the 13th from 15:00-17:00 and the other on Sunday the 14th from 15:15-17:15. Both sessions will be held in the Quaker Studio in the Pleasance! These classes will run through the fundamentals of Longsword fencing and allow attendants an opportunity to try sparring. If you are a nonmember interested in or considering joining the society, this the precise event for you!
All of our fresher’s events are free to attend and do not require tickets! However, we do encourage you to register interest in the events by viewing them on the EUSA ‘what’s on?’ events page, either by scrolling or simply searching ‘HEMA’.
